We Can Modernize Most Manufacturer's Equipment

Diamond Elevator Service specializes in elevator modernization, from simple updating of controls or cosmetic cab and fixture changes, to extensive replacement of all of your elevator equipment. Elevator modernization keeps older buildings competitive with newer buildings, and typically provides a good financial return based on increasing the value of your building.
Diamond Elevator Service’s modernization team will provide your facility an assessment of the condition of the existing elevator equipment and recommendations for upgrading the system and improving the performance and reliability of the elevators. Diamond Elevator Service uses top-of-the-line generic elevator control systems when modernizing so that the owner is not tied to an OEM for maintenance service going forward.
Elevator Modernization
Diamond Elevator Service’s expert team has an outstanding track record of finished projects that are successfully re-licensed by the TSSA on time, and with exceptional customer satisfaction after completion.
Diamond Elevator Service has a wealth of experience in all types of elevator modernizations. From simple cab upgrades to complete control system and elevator cab modernizations, Diamond Elevator Service has the solution that you are looking for.
Cab Upgrades
This is basically a cosmetic upgrade to your elevator interior. This type of modernization can include:
- New elevator push-button fixtures
- Relocation of fixtures to comply with handicapped requirements
- Resurfacing of the elevator cab panels
- Replacement of the elevator cab panels
- Replacement of the elevator ceiling and lighting
- Installation of an emergency telephone
Door Operator Upgrades
The mechanism that moves the doors on an elevator will eventually wear out with time. If the parts required to refurbish the operator are no longer available, replacement of the operator is normally required. The newer door operators also give superior door performance to the old style operators. This type of modernization can include:
Replacement of the existing door operator
Replacement of the door reopening devices (safety edge or dual-beam light ray) with a light curtain, which protects passengers from being struck by the door
Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement
In-ground hydraulic elevator cylinders are now protected from corrosion by encasing the cylinder in PVC and filling the PVC with a liquid which displaces water. This prevents corrosion of the cylinder. In the past, this protection was either not used, or it was provided in a manner that deteriorates over time. If your hydraulic elevator is over 20 years old, and has an in-ground cylinder, you have significant corrosion problem risk. Cylinder corrosion related failures have caused a number of fatalities and serious injuries. The solution to this risk is to replace the cylinder with a new cylinder that incorporates the new corrosion protection technology. If you are unsure about whether it would be prudent to replace your cylinder, please feel free to contact us.
Hydraulic Pumping Unit Replacement
If your hydraulic elevator pumping unit is showing signs of old age, you may need to replace part or all of the unit. Signs of old age range from frequent re-leveling of the elevator to erratic stopping at the floor to out of level stops. This type of modernization can include:
- Replacement of the entire pumping unit (tank, motor, pump, and valve)
- Replacement of the control valve
- Replacement of the pump and motor
Controller Replacement
Elevators are expected to last a long time, but after a while some parts wear out and are no longer available. At Diamond Elevator Service, we stock a large number of components for older elevators, but we can't stock everything and many parts become obsolete. After a while, the only solution to ongoing elevator service problems is to replace the obsolete relay-logic based elevator controller with a new state-of-the-art control system. We have the expertise and knowledge required to replace virtually any control system. From lifts for the physically challenged to high-speed passenger elevators, we will supply the right controller for you. Please call us to find out what we can do to meet your elevating needs.
Machine Replacement
After a number of years, a traction elevator machine may sustain sufficient degradation that it may need to be completely replaced. At times a partial replacement is warranted, such as a conversion from a DC machine to an AC, where the motor is replaced. The MG set may be discarded and an AC drive used. Some of the older machines are sufficiently robust to give great service for many more years even after 30 to 40 years of hard use. Other older machines have needed replacing long before this amount of time. Our vast experience with many types of equipment allows us to recommend the solution that will ensure that your money for a modernization is well spent and that the modernized elevator will give many many years of reliable service.
- Maintenance
- Repairs
- Oil Filtration
- Modernization
Older elevator systems that require frequent and costly repairs and experience
extended down time may benefit from reduced long-term expense and greater reliability
through modernization.
We can provide a wide variety of modernizing options at significant savings.
Oil Filtration
Most elevator companies install, alter, test, service, repair
and modernize elevator systems. We carry it one step further.
Our company offers its customers an oil filtration service that provides for
yearly scheduled filtration of the hydraulic fluid in the supply tanks down
to ten (10) microns.
This significantly improves the operation and life expectancy of the hydraulic
components (pumps, valves, etc.), thereby greatly reducing overall costs while
improving reliability.

ELEVATOR INTERIORS
Laminates are tried-and-true utilitarian surfaces that come in almost every color imaginable - including simulated woods. If budget is your primary concern, a standard laminate will outlast carpet or cloth wall treatments, which are more vulnerable to gouging, tearing, and nefarious odor retention. You can choose from hundreds of patterns and colors from several different laminate manufacturers such as FORMICA Brand and WILSONART
Wood veneers are not all created equal. The most resilient product is resin-hardened wood. Manufactured with natural wood veneers that are infused - not simply coated - with a protective melamine resin, resin-hardened wood provides superior scratch and abrasion resistance. If design consistency mandates the use of wood in a high-traffic vehicle, consider a pre-engineered system that allows you to specify wood for the upper panels only. Stainless steel panels are a better choice for the "impact zones" (handrail panels, lower panels, and kick plates). This robust configuration is abuse resistant, and if wood damage occurs, it will be more economical to replace smaller panels.
Applied Wall Panels
Diamond Elevator Service allows you to select a wall option that is just right for your building's elevators. Durable wood core wall panels are available in your choice of plastic laminate. Choose from the Plastic Laminate Selector. These easy-to-install vertical panels are detachable and anchorable, and are available in thicknesses of 1/2" or 7/8". Class B fire rating meets ASME rule 204.2, and other national and local codes. Wall panel hardware includes factory-installed mounting clips or brackets, masonite template, and installation instructions.
Edging
Select wall panel edging in black vinyl, or self-edging in the same laminate as the panel for a sophisticated look.
Ceilings
Choose from a broad selection of suspended ceilings to create a distinctive design for your building's elevators. Ceiling components include frames, panels and lighting options. Metal frames are available in your choice of baked enamel finishes. Metal ceiling panels are available in brushed or polished stainless steel or bronze finish, or in your choice of baked enamel finishes. Select your enamel finish from Diamond Elevator Service's Baked Enamel Color Selector. Lighting arrangements may vary. |
|
Diffused Lighting White translucent diffusers for the fluorescent lighting are available in ceiling frames with a baked enamel finish. |
Disclight These ceiling panels have circular cut-outs and translucent diffusers for the fluorescent lighting and are available in your choice of baked enamel, stainless steel, or bronze finishes. Includes metal frame with a baked enamel finish. |

|
Incandescent Downlights This low voltage lighting is mounted in your choice of baked enamel, stainless steel, or bronze finished ceilings. |
Halogen Downlights These lights brilliantly illuminate your cab using fewer lights that require less maintenance. They are mounted in your choice of baked enamel, stainless steel, or bronze finished ceilings. |

Therefore, an emergency phone is required in all elevators in multi-story residential, commercial, and retail buildings. Take the guesswork out of your elevator emergency phone system by purchasing Viking products, which meet all ADA requirements and more.
